Xunantunich Ruins & Blue Hole Jungle Swim

Following a 3-hour drive through beautiful farmland, mountains and jungle, you have the opportunity to learn the history of the Maya at Xunantunich, one of the major ceremonial centers of that ancient civilization. Later, we break up the ride home with a stop at the Blue Hole National Park for a swim in the jungle.

The major ceremonial site of Xunantunich and a second archeological site of Cahal Pech are both visited in one day. The drive, approximately 3 hours in each direction, also takes you through beautiful orchards and dramatic jungle landscape along the Hummingbird Highway.

Nim Li Punit and Lubaantun

Two Maya archeological sites in the Toledo district of Southern Belize can be visited in 1 day. Nim Li Punit is famous for the stela (tall stone pillar carvings) found on site. Lubaantun was built using unusual construction methods and is also well known for the notorious discovery of a crystal skull many decades ago. Knowledgeable guides share the true history...and the undocumented rumors...surrounding this discovery.

Caracol Ruins

5 hours of driving in each direction doesn't stop some people from visiting the impressive Caracol archeological site while in Placencia. This site is said to rival Guatemala's Tikal site in size and importance in the ancient Maya world yet it is much less developed for tourism. This means you have the opportunity to visit a serene, uncrowded site as you learn about the cultural, spiritual and political makeup of the Maya civilization.
